I didn’t go to Catalyst West Coast, but I did see this video on Ben Arment’s blog today. This is the first time I have seen something in the Christian world in a while that can rival The Lonely Island and Andy Samberg

Today was vision Sunday at Grace Church. Every year at this time we take a Sunday and give our vision (budget, philosophy, etc) as we enter our fiscal year and prepare the natural startup of the fall. Today’s mind dump will be devoted to that (and maybe a few other things).
Anyone who knows my most embarrassing moment from Grace College homecoming in 2002 will find this pic from failblog.org entertaining.
I have sent emails, made verbal announcements, updated my facebook and twitter and now this is the final piece in my communication platform to tell the world that we are pregnant with our second child. Not sure what else to say other than Kristin is due December 1st. If you would like to suggest names boy or girl please comment!
Sunday I did something I have only done 3 other times since 2000. I completely shaved my whole face. No beard, no goatee, not just short trimmed hair, but NO hair.
I never intended to have facial hair. Kristin wanted me to grow a goatee our freshmen year at college so we made a bet that I would if she scored a goal (she was on the soccer team). My luck would have it she scored a game-winning shootout goal the first tournament game of the post-season and so I had to stop shaving for a while.
I had it the rest of the school year and shaved it in the summer because I thought I wanted to, but I soon came to realize I had grown accustomed to it and now thought my chin looked weird and even fat at times. Anyway, there is the story why you will almost never see my face naked like this picture of me and Malachi hanging out this morning.
So I don’t read blogs for one day and I miss Tony Morgan’s announcement. That’ll teach me to slack and get so involved in ministry that I miss all the hot gossip in blog land:)
Jeff Bogue told me a long time ago that the day would come in youth ministry when I couldn’t be naturally cool anymore. When that happens he said you have to study up on culture through TV and other avenues.
I have a couple shows I follow to do that and another came on my radar this week. It is a new autobiographical/documentary/reality show that MTV is doing called “College Life”. They gave 4 freshmen at Wisconsin video cameras and follow them as they start their new college lives.
I can’t endorse the language, lifestyle, or decision making on the show but for better OR WORSE it reflects the decision making and world that I am helping prepare high school students to go into. I think it is a good glimpse into that world from a few different points of view.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I enjoy R&B a little too much. On top of that I also like R&B from England a little too much. These two worlds collide more often than you think. A couple of years ago my friend Raj studied abroad in England and came back and told me about Jay-Sean who was at that time the “Justin Timberlake of England” and he even had a producer Rishi-Rich (who has worked with Britney) who was the “diddy of England”. Anyway, Jay Sean just got picked up by Cash Money and is coming out with a U.S. album. I am not too happy about anyone I like being involved with Lil Wayne, but thought I would link to the story anyway.
I think I owe an update after this busy weekend, but I don’t have any good numbers or pictures for the stuff I am reporting so please don’t hate me!
• I think you are supposed to relax on weekends, but I was up at 6 on Saturday and Sunday.
• Saturday we did our 3rd annual Egg Drop. This year we partnered with our twp. and the YMCA.
• Great event which got our name and people in the community and that is never a bad thing.
• We had over 900 cars and think we had around 3,000 people. I might get some pictures up later if and when the people get them to me.
• This year was great but we are still only on the tip of the iceberg on potential for this event. Not necessarily tons more people (although that could be in the cards) but I want to make it more of an experience and tighten registration.
• Next year we will switch the location, the times, the amount of eggs, the amount of volunteers….so pretty much everything:)
• This morning we had Easter services at 8:45, 10:00. and 11:15.
• 3 services is a while new ballgame….50% more work.
• I lead worship so that was certainly something I have never done on Easter.
• My voice held up and there weren’t any terrible blunders.
• The sound was great today and so were Kelly and Matt on vocals.
• As usual tomorrow’s day off will be great to relax. What am I doing you ask? Watching Free at Last the movie with my good friend Ross Owen of course.
